Why Vash?

Vash the Stampede. Interesting name isn't it? Vash is the main character of the anime series Trigun. It's about a gun-toting dork who goes by the name of Vash. He claims to be a soldier who seeks the mayfly known as love. Despite his looks, he is an extremely talented gunman. A funny and wimpy kind of guy, he hates fighting and tries to avoid it as much as he can. Unfortunately for him, he's doing a poor job of it because much as he tries to avoid it, it's the fighting that comes to him. He is also known as the humanoid typhoon because he leaves a trail of destruction everywhere he goes. In most of the cities he visits, he almost always gets into a gun battle that usually leaves the city partially or completely destroyed. He was blamed for totally destroying an entire city so he was considered an outlaw and a $$60,000,000,000 bounty has been placed on his head. So far, no one has succeeded in capturing him and collecting the reward money.

So, why Vash? Simple: he's a different kind of hero. For me anyway. He's not like Superman who flies around fighting bad guys and portrays himself as a champion of justice. He's not like Batman who fights with his vigilante justice and who has a personal vendetta against a particular criminal. He's just the accidental hero who happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, but once he's there, he sets things right. And this blonde guy with the dorky smile and the flowing red coat is just simply cool! ^_^
